Orangeville Hydro cannot guarantee an uninterrupted supply of electricity to all of our customers at all times. We will make every effort to minimize both the length and impact of all planned outages and notify all impacted Life Support Customers prior to beginning a planned power interruption.
A Life Support Customer is defined as a residential customer that has provided Orangeville Hydro with documentation from a physician confirming that electrical service disconnection poses a risk of significant adverse effects on the physical health of the customer or on the physical health of the customer’s spouse, dependent family member or other person that regularly resides with the customer.
Residential customers who require an uninterrupted source of power for life support equipment should:
- Complete a Life Support Notification Program Registration form. This form contains documentation from a physician confirming that disconnection poses a risk of significant adverse effects on the physical health of the customer or on the physical health of the customer’s spouse, dependent family member or other person that regularly resides with the customer.
- Have an alternative source of electricity nearby, such as a battery backup system or a generator.
- Make arrangements to leave their home in the event the time expected to restore power is longer than their available backup power.
- Determine if their situation is critical enough to require a call for an ambulance.
Orangeville Hydro Limited will not always have the opportunity to notify customers of all outages as some are unplanned. Orangeville Hydro Limited will make every effort to contact these customers but will not be liable in any manner to the customer for failure to do so.
